Speedsters raise £3,000 for Rainy Day Trust
On a wet and windy Sunday, fifteen teams from across the country representing the DIY and Hardware Industry congregated at the Speedkarting track in Warrington, for the 18th Annual Hardware Trades Karting Challenge raising over £3,000 for the Rainy Day Trust charity.
Event Organiser, David Hibbert, Joint Managing Director of Stax Trade Centres, commented
“I would really like to thank all the companies who entered a team in this year’s event particularly our sponsors Unibond and Stax Trade Centres. Trading in the current climate is tough for everyone and I really appreciate the continued support from all the companies who paid to enter a team thereby raising valuable funds for the Rainy Day Trust.”
Picking up the silverware this year were some old names as well as some new contenders. Veteran of this event, Jamie Brown from Workhouse Marketing, took to the podium three times picking up the trophy for Fastest Lap, individual driver and as part of the winning team. KirstyShute, representing Plasti-kote was the fastest lady on the day with Kelly Heighway driving for Crown Paints taking the coveted Bent Axle Award.
Coming second and third in the team event were the Leyland Shovelies and the team from Decco respectively and in the individual race Curtis Bray representing Decco was second with Phil Cumper driving for Henkel third.
Hibbert continued
“As usual it was a great day and I think this year was one of the toughest competitions to date with a number of drivers demonstrating real skill on the tracks. I am sure that there are a few who will be keen to improve their final positions next year.”
