How we can help: Who we are able to help

The initial qualification required for an annual award or a one-off grant is that the applicant or his/her spouse or partner must have worked for a “qualifying company” – i.e. a company in any part of the home improvement industries we cover, including manufacturers, distributors and retailers for a period of at least 10 years.

Some applications come to us direct from the applicant or via the trade press.

Many more are referred by other charities such as Help the Aged, ex-servicemen’s charities, Citizens’ Advice Bureau and from local social services throughout the UK.

All applications are considered by a case committee comprising Rainy Day Trust board members.
