We’re entering a hugely exciting new chapter at the Rainy Day Trust — and we’re looking for an exceptional Business Manager to join us and help shape the future of our charity.

For 182 years, we’ve supported people across the UK home-improvement sector when life doesn’t go to plan. From tradespeople and builders’ merchants to DIY retail staff, garden centre employees and their families — we’re here when things get tough. Whether someone is facing redundancy, illness, bereavement or financial hardship, we help with grants, fuel support, counselling, debt advice, training and more.

With a bold new strategy launching, we’re expanding our work and introducing new programmes in 2026 that will support people before crisis hits. To make this vision a reality, we need to build strong, efficient internal foundations — and that’s where our new Business Manager comes in.

What You’ll Do

This is a key role in our small team. You’ll be the person who ensures we operate smoothly, efficiently and with excellence every day. From improving our systems and streamlining processes, to supporting governance, managing financial administration and providing executive support — your work will keep us moving forward.

We’re looking for someone who doesn’t just maintain systems, but questions them. Someone who enjoys bringing structure to complexity, spots better ways of doing things and ensures nothing falls through the cracks. In short, you’ll help us “punch above our weight” as we grow.

Who We’re Looking For

You’ll thrive here if you are:

  • Exceptionally organised and detail-driven
  • A natural problem-solver who loves improving systems
  • Calm, proactive and able to work independently
  • Confident handling finances, governance and project coordination
  • Motivated by doing work that changes lives

We’re a supportive, values-driven charity with big ambitions and a genuine commitment to helping people live with dignity. If you want to use your skills to make a meaningful difference — and grow with us as we scale — we’d love to hear from you.
