For Employers
Employee Ambassador
The biggest barrier to support isn’t awareness. It’s stigma.
Rainy Day Trust is the only charity which exists solely to help people who have worked in the UK’s home improvement and enhancement industry. Over 180 years of sector-specific expertise means we understand your workforce, their pressures, and what support actually looks like in practice.

Questions we get asked most.
Yes. The Ambassador training is CPD accredited, covering a full day (6 hours) of face-to-face learning. You’ll receive a CPD certificate on completion, which you can add to your professional development record as evidence of your commitment to workplace wellbeing and community engagement.
The initial training is a single day (6 hours), delivered face-to-face. Once qualified, your ongoing commitment is flexible and fits around your role. Most Ambassadors spend just a few hours a month supporting colleagues, raising awareness, and helping coordinate fundraising activity.
Ambassadors support colleagues in any three ways; helping them access Rainy Day Trust services, opening up conversations about wellbeing, and/or supporting fundraising for Rainy Day Trust. You don’t need to do all three, focus on what suits your skills, interests and time. Many organisations have several Ambassadors who share these roles between them, so it’s flexible and works around you.
Absolutely not. Ambassador training is included as part of your organisation’s Rainy Day Trust membership benefit, available to Silver-tier members and above. There’s no additional charge for the training, materials, or ongoing ambassador support, it’s all part of your existing membership.
Yes. You’re never expected to go it alone. Rainy Day Trust provides ongoing guidance, resources, and a point of contact for advice on signposting, fundraising, or handling difficult conversations. You’ll also join a wider Ambassador community to share experience and best practice.
Not at all. Ambassadors aren’t expected to have expertise in mental health, financial, or physical wellbeing, your role is to be approachable, listen without judgement, and know where to signpost colleagues for professional support. Training gives you the confidence and tools to do this well.
Any employee or apprentice at an organisation with Silver-level Rainy Day Trust membership or above can get involved, across both the Employee Ambassador and Apprentice Ambassador programmes. You don’t need to be the most outgoing person in the room, whether you’re confident and vocal or quieter and more reserved, all we ask is that you genuinely care about your colleagues’ wellbeing.
